Windows 10 no longer supports my old webcam. I was a bit pissed, but the LifeCam VX-1000 was pretty old (but it was Microsoft). I like the LifeCam Studio replacement. Going from VGA resolution to Full HD (1920 x 1080) is a good thing. The instructions (pictures) weren't that clear and the reference to the page at the beginning was misleading. There was no software or drivers on the website, just PDF copies of the documents that came with the webcam. I think it's best to ignore the instructions. With my Windows 10 PC connected to the internet, I just plugged in my webcam and the drivers loaded automatically. A few drivers appear to be related to facial recognition. The webcam appears to automatically focus on what it recognizes as the subject's face. The webcam works with the camera app built into Windows 10. It also works with other apps as it appears to be a standard UVC webcam. There are no controls on the webcam other than a button that you set in the software to take a photo or series of images, start/stop a video, and the like. The button has an indicator that lights up when the computer is accessing the webcam. The "manual" focusing is done by software. I can focus it from a few centimeters to infinity. I found drivers for VX-1000 after purchasing this webcam. Looks like Microsoft wrote drivers for my old webcam after I retired it. Find out.
