Not a real deal, shouldn't have used

I was unhappy my clinique wasn't in the box, thought of sending it back as I was afraid it wasn't a real deal, time had run out and as I ran out of my bottle that I had, I went ahead and used one of the two bottles. It stings my skin so I used the holdalls I had but then they ran out and I went back and tried the ones I got that weren't in the box. My face still burned a little and wasn't smooth as it always is when using this product. Also, my face is swollen. So I went to Dillards when I was in Phoenix and bought a new bottle not knowing it was so intense and it wasn't what I wanted. Is it too late to return the bottle I haven't opened?
