Review on Rust-Oleum 293515 Rocksolid Polycuramine Garage Floor Coating, 2.5 Car Kit, Tan by David Ocampo

Tip; Don’t follow the directions!

The mfr’s of all these DIY kits want the instructions to seem easy and not too expensive so they tell you that you don’t need to rent a floor grinder and you don’t need to use primer. False! EVERY pro grinds their floors and uses primer (Rustoleum Concrete & Garage Recoat Primer in this case) because you HAVE TO no matter what the DIY kits say. I spent a little extra to do my garage floor the right way (grinding, priming, and using 5-minute epoxy to fill cracks) and my floor turned out fantastic. It still scratches a little easier than I expected (it’s a coating, not a miracle) but everyone who sees it raves about how good my floor looks. Another tip; buy the micro flakes and spread it from a can with holes drilled in the end like a big pepper shaker. This gives you excellent control to get a VERY even distribution. Spike shoe platforms (cheap here on ebay) are a must unless you don’t use any flakes at all. You WILL need at least 50% more product than claimed. I applied at DOUBLE the recommended amount and I wouldn’t do any floor differently - a heavier coating is better (and, yes, twice as expensive). I did NOT use anti-slip additive and I’m glad I didn’t - the floor looks and feels and cleans better without it and the micro flakes add enough texture on their own.
